Online individual therapy for adults (18+)

I integrate ideas and knowledge from a variety of different therapeutic approaches depending on your specific needs and goals. Common approaches I pull from include:

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

Attachment theory

Feminist Theory

EMDR

Polyvagal Theory/Nervous System States

Parts Work/Ego States

Anti-Oppressive Practice

At my core, I work from a humanistic, client-centered approach and I’m always trying to make sure you feel safe, seen, heard, and understood. Now…you may be wondering why I haven’t mentioned Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), or maybe you’re not wondering, which is totally okay, and I’m just going on a long tangent. I have found that CBT techniques, while useful in certain circumstances, are broadly not very helpful amongst ADHD, HSP, and autistic people. I will usually pull a few interventions from CBT if I think it might help, but I adapt them so that they’re (hopefully) used in a way that’s still compassionate and validating.

Neurodiversity Affirming Therapy

As if navigating this existence weren’t hard enough sometimes, having an ADHD, AuDHD, or HSP brain can make it feel all the more overwhelming and isolating. Sensory struggles, demand avoidance, rejection sensitivity…that’s only the tip of the iceberg for common ADHD/AuDHD/HSP experiences that frequently result in a significant amount of pain, guilt, and shame.

There really is nothing wrong with you. If you’re reading this right now, chances are high you have a neurodiverse brain. Neurodiversity recognizes neurological differences as natural and expected variations of the brain, similar to the variations we see with eye color or hair color. Neurodiversity is a big umbrella of neurological differences, of which ADHD, AuDHD, and HSP are just a select few. Neurodiversity affirming therapy honors and celebrates these natural differences, but also makes space for exploring the social constructs and neuronormative expectations that contribute to so much pain and disconnection. I cannot promise you that our work together will change the harmful norms and constructs that exist right now (there’s a lot) but I can promise that you’ll be sharing the hurt with someone who truly does get it.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing

EMDR is a treatment approach that can accelerate healing from difficult, painful, and traumatic experiences. It uses bilateral stimulation (movement that alternates between both sides of the body) and guided instruction to help process traumatic experiences. EMDR does not require detailed retelling of the traumatic event in order to be successful. When we experience a traumatic event, our brains goes “offline”, which results in the sensory and emotional associations being stored differently in our brains than how the memory of the event is stored verbally. The memory of the event gets frozen in our brains and bodies, causing us to re-experience it at later points in our lives. EMDR helps the memories get unfrozen, helping to reduce the impact these experiences have on us.

Cost of Services

I believe in making therapy as accessible as possible, and I am able to take many different commercial insurances. I also have sliding scale pricing and can provide you with a superbill to submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement if you have out-of-network benefits.

My current out-of-pocket rate is $130 for a 45-55 minute session. If this is not accessible for you, we can discuss a rate that would be manageable for you.
